Hey Everyone, just thought I’d post about current events here at Berklee College of Music
Starting up Intro to Film Scoring today, though it’s not for Film Majors it’s still the first class in a line of major-specific courses in film scoring, which is VERY exciting
Someone emailed me this morning asking of the classes whereabouts and I promptly replied cause I’m SUCH A NICE GUY lol.
Also today, I start the last jazz theory course in a series of four courses, so this is Harmony 4. They say Harmony 3 is the hardest one though, because apparently 4 is just so far out there, so whacked out and ridiculous that the rules are basically; there are no rules. At least, this is what I’ve heard… I suppose today and in the coming weeks we can put that to the test and I will drop by to post the word.
Starting Solfege 1, which is an alternative to Ear Training 3. There’s Ear Training 1-2-3-4, or you can take Ear Training 1-2 and Solfege 1-2. Solfege is supposed to be more classically oriented than jazz oriented which is where the Ear Training classes primarily lie. Solfege is also a requirement of film majors anyway so I’m killing two birds with one stone (though I don’t understand how killing birds with rocks is good at all… pretty lame…)
And finally, tonight I have my first two-hour meeting at the BIRN; the Berklee Internet Radio Network!! For those interested you can listen the BIRN online at www.TheBirn.com. The meeting is 6-8pm, so I’ve got my work cut out for me today, its 7 o’clock here!
In other news, I turned down a job from www.Jove.com – they wouldn’t tell me what they wanted! Crazy stuff, if you want to hire a composer you have to at least tell them what you want and read your emails… it was really hard trying to explain licensing of music to them but… what can you do? lol anyway just thought I’d mention it. Maybe next week I’ll do a post on ways to get the most out of your relationship with a composer
till next time
